Assessments of the Flexibility of the Labour Market in Bulgaria

Abstract

Flexibility is defined as capability of the labour market to react to external impacts and change itself. In the first aspect its reaction to the impact of the main macroeconomic factors (GDP, inflation and productivity of labour) is examined. To assess the capability of change key indicators in this area are used: mobility of labour force (the in- and outflows in the labour market), duration of the work time and the character of the labour agreements. The received results give ground to the conclusion that the labour market in Bulgaria is distinguished for it's moderate flexibility. It reacts in different degree to external impacts, has a high intersectoral mobility and limited application of flexible forms of employment.
