Abstract
The aim of the paper is to reveal and analyze some basic reasons, which caused the rejection of totalitarianism and transition from a centrally-planned to a market economy. On this basis, the main trends in Bulgarian agriculture at the beginning of 21st century have been outlined. Conclusions have been drawn concerning ways and specific proposals for the integration of the Bulgarian agriculture into the European agriculture as an opportunity for its stable growth within the EU framework.
